BSCs: Offer Customers Your Fall Clean-up Expertise

Fall is just days away, so it’s the perfect time for BSCs to reach out to their customers about preparing their facilities for the fall. The following blog includes recommendations on what a business should be looking at when it comes to a fall clean-up. A downloadable info sheet has been provided as well. Send this helpful info to customers and recommend how you can be a part of their facility preparations for this autumn. We’ve left space for you to add your own logo and contact info if you’d like.

Fall Clean-Up Checklist

Check roofs and gutters

Make sure these are free of debris that could clog gutters and lead to the build-up of water. Stagnant water can damage roofs, leading to leaks, mildew, and mold. Be sure to check the roof for any problem areas and get them fixed as needed.

Monitor and maintain business roofs

Check heating and air conditioning system

Ensure the HVAC system is not only functional but also cleaned. Check that all filters have been replaced as necessary. Dirty or unmaintained HVAC systems can lower the air quality in the building as well as spread dust and dirt throughout the facility. If not properly maintained, the system won’t function as effectively through the colder weather fall and winter brings.

Do a deep cleaning

Every facility should maintain a consistent cleaning schedule throughout the year. However, this is an opportune time to do a deep clean. Now, what a deep clean consists of will vary from cleaner to cleaner and will depend on what the needs of the facility are. Some examples of areas included in a deep clean are:

  • Behind appliances like washing machines, dishwashers, or ovens
  • Under sinks
  • Full interior and exterior window washing
  • Scale removal from tiles, taps, and shower heads

To maintain the air quality of the facility, be sure cleaning staff use cleaning products that don’t have the volatile and harsh components that can cause allergic reactions, nausea, headaches, and other issues. This protects the cleaning staff as well as the occupants of the building.

Make sure outside areas are maintained

Before winter hits, make sure that all landscaping has been trimmed, edged, and cleaned up. Remove all fallen leaves, branches, and other debris that the wind might have carried to the entrance or grounds of the business. Install floor mats at entrances.

Stock up on ice melt and a good ice melt residue cleaner

Stock up on ice melt for the winter if the business is in an area where snow and ice can be a hazard to customers walking into the facility. Also, don’t forget to stock up on a floor cleaner that can expertly cut through the ice melt residue left behind on floors.
